The Dutiful Daughter was founded in 1970 by Jane Wlochowski with a simple mission: to help families navigate life’s transitions with care, integrity, and respect. For more than 40 years, Jane and her family have supported individuals and families who are downsizing, moving into retirement communities, or coping with the loss of a loved one.
What began as a small family business has grown into a trusted, multi-generational company. Jane has since passed the reins to her son, Aaron, who oversees day-to-day operations, and today the third generation, Connor, has joined the business—continuing the family’s tradition of compassionate, professional service.
In the fall of 2014, The Dutiful Daughter expanded operations to Massachusetts. With the full support of the Wlochowski family, Sean McAdam opened and has successfully operated the Massachusetts office, upholding the same core values and client-first philosophy that define our company.
The Dutiful Daughter is a fully insured third generation family-owned business helping people make transitions in their lives. I'd lived in my house for over 40 years before moving to an assisted living community and I contacted The Dutiful Daughter to help me. I would recommend her wholeheartedly. Her sons were wonderful and her husband even fixed the leg on my old china cabinet. She was an angel from heaven. They are a full-service firm.

Thank you so much for your efforts on behalf of my parents. Closing their home of over forty years was understandably hard for them. Your competence and caring attitude made them much more comfortable with this difficult process. Donating items to worthy charities also made the process more tolerable to them. I want to thank you specifically for your attention to detail and trustworthiness. Finding and returning my mother’s gold bracelet put a nice finish to a job well done.

I’ve used her and her sons four or five times now. They are extremely trustworthy. They will go through meticulously to look through documents, bank statements. They call me to say we’ve found this or we’ve found that. And they are extremely efficient. They’re truly nice people and a pleasure to work with.

We have hired the Dutiful Daughter to clean out our house and move to a retirement community. Six months later they packed and moved us to another community and finally after a year we moved to a third home with our daughter and the Wlochowski’s moved us again. You feel so comfortable. It’s more of a family atmosphere. I didn’t worry when they packed things up. We trusted them to do the job.
We are fully insured with general liability, workman’s compensation and comprehensive automotive insurance.
We are not licensed to remove hazardous waste. We can not remove paint or flammable liquids. You can contact your town’s sanitation department for a hazardous waste pick up/drop off schedule and for companies that can assist with its removal.
We over 40 years of experience in the antique and collectible markets. Our expertise allows us to determine what is selling in the market at the current time. We do research and work through our network of buyer to gather information for our clients. Typically we look to sell items that have a value of $25 or more. In order to do this we will group similar items into “lots” so that they will sell.
We do not control the market or the price of items. We work with our network of buyers, auctioneers and experts to help us sell your items at the best price. We have developed a list of over 250 specialized buyers to help insure our client gets the best market price. Our goal is to place the items with buyers, collectors and auctioneers that allow our clients to maximize revenue for current market conditions. We do not control the market place or what will or will not sell but we do work in the best interest of our clients.
We have two 16 ft box trucks, one 20 ft box truck, and a dumpster truck.
Our typical timeframe to sell items is 2 – 16 weeks. Unique or special items can take longer but the client is always communicated with when the time frame is extended. We do not control the market, but make our best efforts to maximize the selling price.
When efforts have failed to sell an items these items will be donated on behalf of the client.
We will group similar items in a “lot” to be sold. These lots help smaller items to sell. A typical “lot” would be of glassware or dishes.
